We all know the importance of brushing teeth for oral hygiene and plaque removal. However, brushing teeth with the right techniques is only part of the equation. It is also important to keep toothbrushes clean and sanitized. This is where toothbrush sanitizers come into play.

Before discussing sanitizer toothbrushes, let us take a look at some of the facts associated with a wet and not properly cleaned toothbrush:

The word "sanitized" usually means that almost 99 percent of the bacteria was killed.

There is another type of sanitizers using steam to do the job and taking water entry. Apart from the additional step of adding water, the steam-based sanitizers are just as easy to use as UV-based. There are however a number of advantages with the steam-based sanitizers. First, cleaning is a bit more depth than the steam can penetrate into the nooks and crannies of the toothbrush better than the UV rays can. Secondly, we need a much shorter time to clean. Thirdly, steam cleaners generally also clean the handle and not only the head of the brush.

Most of us understand the importance of keeping teeth clean, yet can not understand the importance of keeping our toothbrushes sanitized. A disinfectant for the toothbrush should really be considered a bathroom essential.
