Discover How to deal with cat bites and scratches without risk of infection I think I'm a freak rescue. I can not stand seeing an animal in need. I do not care what animal it is, I'll help everyone. However, cats appear to have their own way of finding me. Once both cats are up on my doorstep the next day I moved in.
I think they have good tom-tom.
Or maybe I was a cat in a previous life ...
Catching abandoned animals can be difficult, however.
A few years ago, I adopted a cat scared of young people. Before, she had settled, she managed to escape from the house and, fortunately, has accumulated a nearby tree.
I had to retrieve her hand, she would go wild, not knowing where home was.
I knew I was in a difficult period. Luckily the tree was not very high and a stool was short enough to get used to his level. Then the fun started. It never ceased to support more and more close to a branch until she could go further. Now she was really scared.
I made a grab for her.
She fought and bit and scratched, but I managed to hang on. In a way we could go home and bolted to hide under a bed. Well, she was safe, so traumatized. I'll deal with it later. How about me?
My arms and my hands were covered with scratches and bite marks that were beginning to become painful and swollen.
I found my bottle of homeopathic Ledum and started to mix. In a few doses a few minutes apart, I could feel the pain escape.
Some doses and there is really only marks, the swelling has gone down. A few days later they were gone too.
I wished I had known this remedy, a few years ago when I was in a similar situation. Then my hands and my arms were swollen and very painful for more than two weeks.
The most obvious problem in such a situation, apart from the pain and swelling, is the risk of infection. Because the remedy had worked quickly on the immediate symptoms (pain and swelling), I knew it would prevent infection, and did.
Ledum is a great remedy for any acute puncture wound. This may be a cat bites (or any other animal), a splinter, a shard of glass, a vaccination, a rusty nail, a poisonous spider or snake bites. They are all deep wounds. I used to give parents and pet owners Ledum to take before and after they have their child or an animal vaccinated. This allows any swelling and limit the damage.
If Ledum is given soon after a bite, it will prevent an abscess. Abscesses are common in cats that are fighting with other cats or cats that hunt.
An offbeat Ledum is that they are cold, but feeling better for cold applications. Heat aggravates the situation. So, if the bite feels relief from cold applications (we do not talk about the numbing effect of ice here), Ledum is the first remedy to use.
If the remedy is not to help the acute symptoms (pain and swelling) and infection could set in. If the relief is granted by the remedy, it will also prevent infection, even tetanus . It is therefore important to keep an eye on this.
The homeopathic remedy Ledum is available from homeopaths, homeopathic pharmacies, health food stores and now even chemists. It is of homeopathic first aid kit.
