Are deep cleaning, reductions in pocket from a good alternative to the periodontist gum graft? I studied tissue transplantation is expensive and painful and scary, are the major cleaning, scaling, replacing the reductions in pocket for good tissue graft?
A thorough cleaning is done to remove calculus all wedged under the gums.
Without getting a proper foundation whatever you do will fail.
Pocket reductions are performed when you have a lot of bone loss due to tartar deposit.
That means your bones (Foundation) got smaller. However, the gum tissue has stayed soft / bulky. Consequently, it forms a pocket / flap, which collects food particles.
The treatment is to remove the excess fabric so that the area can remain self-cleaning. This is known as a reduction surgery pocket.
On the other hand, a gum graft is required when there is tissue recession. In other words, when the gum has receded, causing the exposure of the root surface of teeth.
In this situation, a section of tissue is collected from the mouth / roof of the mouth and implanted on the deficient area.
So you can understand that each procedure is performed for completely opposite reasons. You can never be an alternative to the other.
I hope that was clear enough.
deep cleaning is good for preventing the situation from getting worse and lose more tissue. The only way to get the fabric you've lost is the Registry. It is a bit expensive, but not painful and scary.
