MarketplaceSwollen Gums Wisdom TeethPosted on February 7, 2010. How can you relieve the pain of swollen gums around wisdom teeth? my wisdom teeth have just begun to be inflated just out of nowhere can you tell me how to relieve the pain that I get the swollen gums? The best medicine for pain most types of inflammatory pain is ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil, etc..) Chemicals that cause pain are the same that cause swelling. Ibuprofen stops the pain / swelling of chemicals occur. It is better that naproxen (Aleve) and acetaminophen (Tylenol). As long as you're healthy and have no history of sensitivity or allergy to ibuprofen or aspirin, you can take ibuprofen for pain. Try to take 2 tablets, 200 mg each, for a total of 400 mg initially and see if it works. Otherwise, you can take to 800 mg (4 tablets of 200 mg each) every 6 hours. Do not exceed 3200 mg in a period of 24 hours. It is very bad for the vital organs. Take as little as you can, as long as the dose is effective. I hope this helps. I use pain relievers (Tylenol, ibuprofen, aspirin). They all work very well, but few hours later, the pain returned with a vengeance. I'm in my mid-20, though. You may not be as "painful" than mine. Wire and I use Listerine to keep clean and reduces the pain too. Report Abuse Prostaglandins are chemicals that cause swelling and pain, both ibuprofen and naproxen treat pain and swelling since both are NSAIDs. Flag # 1 Choice some ground cloves and roll inside small piece of towel. remove the tooth itself .. Go to the pharmacy, like CVS, etc, and buy hurricane Frost, the best I've ever used. It is a bit expensive, but worth it, alittle goes a long way. You can greatly reduce the amount of pain associated with trauma gum using a combination of anti-inflammatory drugs (ibuprofen) and rinsing with warm salt water. To rinse, just add a teaspoon of salt in one cup of warm water, stir it around your mouth (or soak if it hurts) and spit out.
