Pseudomembrane-a hard layer of gray-white exudate, resembling a true membrane formed on the mucosa in some diseases. (For example:-candidiasis.)
Candidiasis (moniliasis) is skin infection with Candida species, usually Candida albicans. Infections can occur anywhere and are most common in skin folds and web spaces, on the penis and around nails. Signs and symptoms vary by site. The diagnosis is clinical and by the appearance of potassium hydroxide wet mount of skin scrapings. The treatment is drying agents and antifungals.
