Periodontal Splinting

Posted on March 10, 2010.
Periodontal Splintingperiodontal ligament disorders ...?

I was harassed by a dull pain in the # 18 for the month. Dentist says there is no cavity. Endodontist saw no evidence of cracks or fractures.

When my lower wisdom teeth were removed (when I was 46), the malaise that has precipitated their removal was, by maxillofacial surgeon, because of insufficient support from the periodontal ligament.

I am a bruxas (although I wear my splint religious), and it seemed logical when the dentist thought it was TMJ. The endodontist, too, thought is the ATM.

If there is more than ATM - and I fear that this might be harder to periodontal ligament - is there any chance that I might be able to keep my tooth? Do periodontal ligament heal?

Any thoughts? Suggestions?

You can develop periodontal problems due to tension and / or grinding habit:

The ligaments that hold teeth in position to get bent / stretched.

Therefore, these areas act as bruised muscles.

The nerves innervating these regions show exaggerated response.
