Gum disease can cause damage to the underlying bone structure that supports your gums and teeth is in place. This bone is relatively vulnerable and can be damaged by the effects of bacterial infection.

Some people like to clarify that only people in their thirties and forties to develop gum disease. Think about this for a minute. Where does this come from gum disease? Did not develop in a period of ten the last twenty or thirty years? Gingivitis is the early stage of gum disease and has been detected in people of all ages.

When bacterial infection occurs below the gumline, the support structure is attacked by-products produced by the bacteria. Once this structure is eroded You will also notice that the gums have receded. Again, this did not happen overnight.

A key to preventing gum disease is to realize that the chances are very high that you develop if you have not already. By creating good habits while in your teens or twenty years, you can prevent the onset of gum disease later in life. You will keep your teeth when others lose theirs.

Once the structure is compromised bone supporting the teeth can become loose depending on the severity of the damage is. At some point the support structure may not be strong enough to support the tooth at all and that's it. The tooth is lost.

As an adult there is no permanent teeth, unless you count prostheses or implants. Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss. Each person on the planet, except for the few who are 2 percent of gum disease resistant, must be concerned with this problem. Make a plan to prevent or fight against it and execute that plan on a daily basis.

Starting early is the key to prevention. However, if you do not start early, you can begin taking steps to prevent your situation worsens. If you fail to take any action, there are still options. But you may not like these options.

I remember an older man at a recent meeting said, "there is no substitute for your own teeth. Substitutions are poor substitutes for the real thing. I do not think most People are too lazy to take care of their teeth. Instead, I think they do not understand what will happen if they are not. How many people understand that most of the adult population is affected by a certain stage of gum disease? Most spend their lives blind to what is happening right inside their own mouth.

Some people make a distinction between gingivitis and gum disease. It is just the beginning of another. If you are in their twenties or older and have been advised of the presence of gingivitis, is now the time to become a duty to oral health care. Today, gingivitis can progress to periodontal disease tomorrow. It's just a matter of degree.

Unfortunately, the public is woefully ignorant of gum disease, what it is and what it can do for you as an individual. Again, gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss. The jeers Mayo Clinics website that can be up to 80% of the adult population in America has gum disease. Many Americans are fools to take care of their smiles. Yet, many continue to develop this disease. You can almost bet the statistics are higher outside the United States.

You owe it to yourself to find out everything you can to prevent gum disease or fight once you become aware. Ask your dentist about the health of your gums every time you go for an examination. If you have bleeding during your normal cleaning, you should be aware that this is not normal. Even if you bleed a little, it could very well indicate that you have gingivitis or gum disease.

In addition to the health of your gums, the overall health of your body should also be considered. It is probably the most important aspect of your life. I found the exercises of Falun Gong to be worm.
