During their experience, they screwed a metal cylinder of titanium in the femur of the subject of animal testing.

After this discovery, Professor Bra¥nemark started focusing on how to use the osteo-integration, by which the phenomenon has been called to help humans. He then found that other titanium screws can be used as bone anchors for teeth. Titanium, as researchers became aware, was the only material that works successfully for dental implants. Other doctors have also been exploring the idea of implants for years even before the discovery by Professor Bra¥nemark's.

Following the scientific review of his papers, the proceedings had won the faith of other doctors. The guidelines of the implant due in 1982 at the Toronto conference in clinical dentistry.
