I am dating a wonderful man who just told me he has this disease. We have not been intimate. I did tons of research, but I would like stories of people who are in the same situation, and how you got / cope. Also, if you have sex with your partner and watch, have you or did you not get the disease?

Until you have sex when ever he has a burst and it is a kind of suppressive therapy (ie Valtrex), then the chances of you getting herpes from him is less than 10 percent.
It should be quite honest with you (as it will tell you he had herpes, which can be very difficult for someone with herpes) on the symptoms that can feel coming on. When he has a break to wait until it goes completely away before having any type of sexual relations with him. Do not let him force you into something you're not ready for.
