Halitosis In Children

Halitosis In ChildrenChildren and halitosis, bad breath

Children can have bad breath as easily as their parents. When the webmaster badbreathgone.com asked me to write an article on halitosis (bad breath) and children, my first thought was, 'Great coincidence! "As an RN and a mother who also works in close contact with children in daycare, I have many good overview of bad breath in our children.

When you feel the breath of a healthy child it smells fresh and clean. If not, then use this list of most likely causes of bad breath / bad breath:

1. Dehydration. (Who is more common than most people suspect)
2. Supercharging and consequently a poor digestion.
3. Eat foods that promote yeast / candida.
4. Incipient or undiagnosed illness / infection, the immune system weak.
5. Too much sugar.
6. Dental problems.
7. Not well rested, too many activities.

As a parent and RN I often try to feel the breath of a child. I can tell you that children who come to the emergency room suffering from bronchitis or asthma all have halitosis / bad breath. Why? Because they have an infection and / or food allergies, and 9 times out of 10 are dehydrated.

So, what parents and caregivers can do to give our children a fresh breath?

1. Make sure the water your child drinks enough - and I mean the water - not juice or soda. Fruit juices, soft drinks and in particular, dehydrate your child and load up the system with sugar. And the sugar provides a perfect breeding ground for bacteria, viruses and fungi / yeast and Candida.

2. Monitor your child's eating. Too much food or food consumed too often, will not digest properly, and ferment and create toxicity that smells bad.

3. Sugar - again. White sugar increases halitosis, and also nourishes infections and yeast infections / candida. reduce it, or better, the cut if you want fresh breath (and many other benefits as well).

4. Halitosis is a sign that the body needs something. It could be as simple as more water, or perhaps the entire immune system needs a boost. See my article on the flu to help stimulate the immune system of your child.

5. Be sure to have regular dental examinations. I could say much more about it, but keep things simple. Just follow through and make those appointments.

6. See how your child is ...? Too much activity? Not enough quality rest? A sort of emotional distress? The imbalances in both physical and emotional can "sour" stomach, turning good food bad. I found that bad breath can provide a strong motivation for parents to listen closely to their children and really work for their welfare.

Some simple remedies to freshen the mouth are a drop of oregano oil under the tongue or on the toothbrush and chewing on a clove. Although pharmacies have shelves full range of products to alleviate halitosis / bad breath, many products contain ingredients that I do not take me. Be careful - if you regularly ingest a small amount of "useful" toxins, which can really add up over the days to weeks, months and years.
