This may have much to do with lack of education we have received about this "silent epidemic". It would be useful if you knew some of the symptoms of gingivitis, but you should be aware that you may or may not show symptoms and you might still have periodontal disease. Only one of these symptoms may not mean anything, in combination, increase the chance that you are facing this disease. However, if you believe in statistics the majority of people are suffering from periodontal disease at this time and as previously mentioned: many do not know. So what are some warning signs? 1. Halitosis - A stylish way to bad breath. 2. Redness of the gums - For Caucasians the gum tissue should be a healthy pink. 3. Swelling - If you notice that your gums are swollen, you should probably have checked the dentist's office. The infection is something you do not want to mess around with. 4. Bleeding gums = Bad! This is the classic sign of gum disease. This can happen when you brush your teeth or floss. If you see blood in these moments, there is a very high probability that you have gum disease or gingivitis. 5. Removing Gum - It can not be caused by gum disease, but also by brushing too hard 6. Loose teeth - If you have any loose teeth your gum disease is advanced or approach the advanced stage. The teeth should be firm. 7.
