Flexcare Insurance

Right now I am working on the plan of my father's insurance. I turn 21 in January and will not be insured under his plan. I work full time, am not a student right now, I am a non-smoker, but my problem is I have been diagnosed with depression and a host of other mental health problems, so I take a lot of prescription drugs. I also have scoliosis and to see a chiropractor on a regular basis. I called the Manulife insurance, my insurer that was a few years ago, and I was basically told that I would be refused under their policy FlexCare because of my depression. I would probably be accepted under their plan FollowMe.

My question is: Am I better make my own plan with a private company, or should I just stick with regular health insurance? Will they cover my drugs? If I should go with the private sector, whose companies are the best?

Unfortunately, our system of government health care does not cover drugs. Note that the Health Act does not cover medications. Although some provinces may offer some help to some people in different socioeconomic groups.

Both carriers most common quote for customers tend to be Manulife Financial and Desjardins Financial Security. I think the two flexible underwriting according to the situation.

Working with an adviser in your city / town and see what he / she can do. Personally, I find that if I speak of marketing carrier's underwriting consultant / before I submit the application, I am better able to position a carrier case for a decision more favorable to my client. Its likely that there may be some exclusions added to the contract, but it does not hurt to apply to find out.
