Dental CapsPosted on March 4, 2010. The porcelain dental caps can be placed on baby teeth? I was wondering because my good friend is an adult and she has 2 baby teeth that have not been backed up with adult teeth. Yes, it could get crowns (also called "caps", but they are more complicated than that), but if they are healthy, perfect teeth, the dentist may prefer to place a veneer. It is a thin sheet of porcelain that is placed on the labial (front) surface of a tooth only. Less tooth structure must be removed by drilling and is less traumatic for the tooth, it is preferable if it's for purely aesthetic reasons. Full Porcelain crowns actually involve removing a LOT of tooth structure, which is always risky. she can try porcelain crowns more, they are more resistant.
