Cosmetic Dentist? How many years, and how long does it take to become a Cosmetic Dentist? Any good schools? I plan to go to college for 4 years, but I want to know what to do after that, or if I should take the full 4 years. Tips for dentists? Thank you!
Every general dentist should be able to do cosmetic dentistry .. Hence, "cosmetic dentistry" is not recognized as a specialty by the American Dental Association.
To become a dentist in the United States, you must either get your degree in a college in 4 years then go to dental school, or go to a 7-year BA / DDS program.
If you have your license, you must complete the course requirements Pre-Dental DAT to take your exam and get good letters of recommendation from the instructor (most of which must be instructors science). Then, apply and get into dental school.
There are only 53 dental schools in the U.S., so they are all "good". Which one you choose depends on your location and if the school meets your needs and preferences.
4 years of dental school later, you got a DDS or DMD (same level, just different characters) and you're a dentist.
Hope this helps.
"Th" is correct - it is not true specialty known as "cosmetic".
One tooth is great mentors used to say: "All dental cosmetic should be." In other words, if you bother restoring teeth, it should look good.
Many doctors take additional courses after graduation to improve their skills, especially if they want to focus on the metamorphosis "extreme" part of dentistry. In this case, the Las Vegas Institute, and LVI, is probably the best known.
Personally .... if I walked into a dentist's office and I saw something about LVI, I ran.
