Brushing Teeth Too Hard

Posted on March 16, 2010.
Brushing Teeth Too Hardgingival recession of brushing teeth too hard?

At my last dentist appointment, the dentist told me that I have some minor gum recession and abrasion of enamel brush my teeth too hard. I tried very hard to brush very gently and everything, but gingival recession does not seem to be improving. Does anyone else have this problem, and is all that you have that helped?

You should consider purchasing a powered toothbrush! It applies the right amount of force needed. Alos, your gum tissue will not grow, if that's what you mean by saying he "does not seem to be getting better."

Make sure you use a toothbrush with soft bristles. I used to always get the medium or hard brush because I thought they were my own teeth and I had the same problem. Package toothbrush with soft bristles will tell. Also make sure you floss every day.

Use a toothbrush with soft bristles or do not brush too long if you tend to brush hard.

Edit: If you're not brushing very difficult, could be your gingival recession gingivitis or gum disease ...?

My dentist recommended the Sonicare FlexCare / UV sanitizer. It's quite expensive if I have not bought one yet. You can see what your dentist thinks.

I know that meth has the same problem. I had no idea that it reversed itself.
