Soft Palette Revision is a type of surgical treatment is sometimes used to reduce the symptoms of sleep apnea.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is very personal. Each person has their own several factors leading to OSA. The reasons vary widely, but there seems to be a cure for almost all causes.

People with sleep apnea have many treatment options available, which include options invasive and noninvasive. The challenge is to find the right treatment. Everyone should consider the factors that contribute to the disorder of an individual person.

soft palate surgeries are becoming very popular and can help immensely. After the healing of soft palate revisions targeting sleep apnea, use of external devices such as CPAP or mouth guards may be unnecessary for many people.

The soft palette contributes to OSA for many people. When a person breathes, the uvula and soft palate vibrate gently. In OSA, they do so at a much greater degree causing snoring.

Sometimes the reason for snoring, because the soft palate is too great because of the anatomy. Other tissues is high time that causes excessive vibration "trauma" and swelling.

When the soft palate is more size, it may partially or completely block the airway. This results in the OSA. Treatment options for this particular cause of OSA are often surgical in nature, the most popular surgeries is to reduce the size of the soft palette. Soft palate revisions for sleep apnea appear to have good results when they are performed on patients who need them.

LAUP - Laser assisted uvulopalatoplasty, removes the extra tissue from the uvula and soft palate with a laser over several appointments until the snoring was reduced or no more tissue can be removed. This can be done in most offices under local anesthesia.

Somnoplasty has basically the same result, the elimination of extrahepatic tissues, such as LAUP, but methods of reducing the radio frequency are used instead of lasers. The tissue is burned by the high frequency radio, the body absorbs the dead tissue over time. This procedure can be repeated several times until the desired result has been reached or no more tissue can be safely removed. Patients report this method is less painful than LAUP.

Other soft palate revisions used for sleep apnea are the procedures of stiffening the palate. Some of these operations involve the creation of scar tissue that will function as rigid splints. Another operation stiffening uses implants to create the firmness of the palate that should keep it from collapsing during sleep. Implants are synthetic fibers that are placed at the midline and parallel to the midline of the soft palate.

Three implants were inserted with a needle under local anesthesia. They can be removed with relative ease, if necessary.

Soft palate revisions used for the treatment of sleep apnea are minor surgery and are most effective. Where they have failed to alleviate the symptoms of sleep apnea, it was either because there were other causes as well as the soft palate or velum Oversized was not the reason for the blockage.

The importance of a good doctor with experience in investigation of sleep apnea can not be stressed enough when considering the body change surgery involving the mouth and airways.
