Antibiotics For Gum InfectionPosted on March 16, 2010. How can I have a sore throat, if I take antibiotics for an infection of the gums? It makes no sense at all! Antibiotics should also help my sore throat, but it is still bothering me. They have already eliminated the gum infection. Different types of antibiotics are dedicated to different types of infections ... one for gum disease can not fight against the very son that has infected your throat ... I would go to the doctor and get a prescription for the throat ... . If sore throat is viral, so they will do nothing at all. Antibiotics do not cure all diseases. What they do is attack the bacterial cells. They do absolutely nothing for the virus. I suggest using the mouthwash instead of taking antibiotics if the condition is not too bad.It working on some limited spread to the throat as well.Note some mouthwashes could be carcinogenic. Antibiotics are prescribed for specific diseases. One for gums can have no effect on strep throat, for example. Sorry You can always get a sore throat that is surrounded by a virus. What The ****?
